Research

Fotolia 54176641 Md|part is convinced that current debates about political participation require better empirical foundations. Too often, discussions are based on recurrent and familiar arguments or the subjective perceptions of the respective commentators.

d|part seeks to make contributions to these discussions that are based on high-quality research. Therefore the think tank conducts projects that analyse in detail which processes can actually be observed. These analyses form the foundation for targeted plans for intervention in and support of political participation.

The aim of the work of d|part are research results that conform to a high scientific standard. Besides an academic audience, these are explicitly meant to be relevant for practitioners and the wider public and will prepared in an accessible manner.

Research programmes

The work of d|part is structured in three programmes:

1) The meaning of political participation for individuals
2) The role of political participation in a democratic state
3) Political participation beyond the nation state
