About the project

The non-profit Hertie-Stiftung shares d|part’s conviction that young people should raise their ideas concerning democracy in public. In order to foster youth participation, the Hertie-Stiftung initiated the project “Jugend entscheidet” that supports ten German municipalities to delegate political decisions on the local level to young people in 2021. “Politik zum Anfassen e.V.”, an experienced organization with process support, assists the municipalities and the young participants in the decision-making process. All project partners are convinced that young people and municipalities can learn from each other to make their cities and villages fit for the future. More information on the project can be found on the website of the project.

d|part conducts the scientific evaluation of “Jugend entscheidet” by assessing the outcome of the project and the impact young people can have on good governance on the local level in Germany. Thus, this impact evaluation among both the participating youth as well as the municipal teams will include an assessment of the question what “good governance” on the local level can actually mean.
